Kanaeva enjoys the friendly atmosphere within the Russian national team at the Universiade

The members of the Russian gymnastics team ask for advice and share their thoughts about their performances, and the whole atmosphere in the team is very supportive, two-time Olympic champion in rhythmic gymnastics Russian Evgeniya Kanaeva said.

The Russian gymnasts at the Universiade, which is held in Kazan, regularly bring gold and silver medals to the Russian team's collection. On the first day of the competitions the Russians won gold in the team all-around, and in the individual standings Margarita Mamun won the top award and Alexandra Merkulova took the silver medal. During the second day of the competitions the Russians once again showed the best result in the group exercises with clubs and got the gold medals, and in the individual exercises Merkulova (ball) and Mamun (hoop) took the first place.

"It's great that each of our girls has her own programme, the girls do not repeat others' exercises and perform the very good exercises. Of course, they ask me for advice, but also they give their opinion, we have a very close-knit family," Kanaeva said to the agency R-Sport. The Russian gymnast noted that despite the fact that the Russians lead in gymnastics competitions, the competitors should never be neglected. "It was showed by the difference in assessment, just in 0.2 points from Sasha Merkulova, can not make mistakes. For sure, I try to see only the good in people, but there are errors, it's a sport, and no errors are allowed here. We hope and support," she added.
