Kabaeva is proud of Russian gymnasts at the Universiade

The Olympics champion Alina Kabaeva claimed that the Russian team in artistic gymnastics shows wonderful result at the Universiade in Kazan.

Russian gymnasts regularly contribute gold and silver medals to the Russian collection. On Monday Russians won the gold in the team all-round competitions, Margarita Mamun won the award of the highest value in singles, and silver went to Aleksandra Merkulova. On Tuesday Russian athletes showed the best result in team events with clubs, and in single competitions Merkulova (ball) and Mamun (hoop, clubs) won the gold.

"I watched their performance with pleasure! I am proud of them as I know how much work they put to perform like this. The most important for them now is not to relax. Yes, they don't have dances or hangings but all of this is so in vain. You have to study till 20 or 30 years so that to form the basis, and then just get the satisfaction from life," Kabaeva said to journalists.

Kabaeva remarked that she doesn't feel nostalgia for gymnastics. "When I just finished I felt it but now I am just enjoying my life. Of course, sometimes I recall moments of my sports career. But can't it be in another way? If not the artistic gymnastics and coach i would never get to know what it is like to be the Olympics champion. This is mine, I live it, and will never forget," she explained. The winner of the Games in Athens considers Universiade to be the "very important start". "You play on behalf of your country! This is practically the Olympics," Kabaeva emphasized.
