Swimming. Preview of competition day

On July 17, the men's and women's finals in 10 km open water swimming will be held at the 27th World University Summer Games at the Rowing Center.

The athletes from such countries as Japan, Italy, Ukraine, Russia, Mexico, United Kingdom, France, Australia, Macedonia, the Czech Republic, the USA, Germany, Ireland, India, New Zealand, Colombia, Brazil, Hungary will participate in the final competitions.
The representatives of Italy, Mexico, Russia, the Czech Republic, Colombia, Brazil, Croatia, Australia, USA, New Zealand, Canada and China will meet in the women's final in 10 km open water swimming.

On July 16, the final competitions in swimming were held at the Aquatics Palace. Aliaksandra Herasimenia from Belarus won in 50 m women's freestyle. Anna Santamans from France took the second place, the third place went to American Megan Romano. In the same category among men the gold medal went to the Russian swimmer Vladimir Morozov, Andrey Grechin from Russia took the silver medal, the bronze medal went to Andrii Govorov from Ukraine.

In the women's final in 50 m breaststroke the Russian athlete Yuliya Efimova won, the second place went to Petra Chokova from the Czech Republic, and the third place went to Valentina Artemyeva from Russia.

The women's final in 200 m butterfly was won by the representative of Japan Kona Fujita, the silver medal went to  the Japanese athlete Nao Kobayashi, Yana Martynova from Russia took the bronze medal.

Women's combined relay 4 x 100 m was won by Russia. The second place went to the athletes from Italy, the team from the USA closed the top three. In the same category among men the winners were the representatives of Russia, the silver medal went to the team from Japan, the US team got the bronze medal.

In 400 m women's freestyle the first place went to Martina De Memme. The second place went to Russian Elena Sokolova, the third place went to the athlete from the United Kingdom Caitlin McClatchey.

The victory of the American athlete Michael Weiss was the result of the final competition in men's 400 m individual medley. The athlete Takeharu Fujimori from Japan took the silver medal. The holder of the bronze medal became the swimmer from the United Kingdom Lewis James Smith.
