Ilsur Metshin: The Museum of the Kazan Universiade will be opened in the city

Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin said that after the end of the Summer Universiade 2013 the museum of the World University Games will be opened in the city.

The Universiade started in the capital of Tatarstan on July 6 and will end on July 17. More than 10,000 athletes from 175 countries participate in the competitions.

"After the end of the Games we will think about the creation of the Universiade Museum. This is already a history, and the museum will show diiferent events, including our bitter defeat in Turin, when Kazan lost to Shenzhen (the right to host the 2011 Games). When they announced Shenzhen, our head were like the scythe cut. About this fact, the first President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev said that such events are not won from the first try. Finally we were able to win with help of the achievements that happened before the 1000th anniversary of the city. Undoubtedly, the museum will be opened, it is just a matter of time" - Metshin told to the reporters of R-Sport. "In addition, we think to keep the design of the pyramid from the Opening and Closing Ceremonies. Want to install it in the Gorky Park on the site of attractions. On that site (of the pyramid), where the equipment is fixed at the height of 45 meters, we would like to make our Kazan Eiffel Tower, from which people can watch at whole Kazan. There open also an interactive museum there. Want to keep it as a symbol of Kazan "- the mayor of the city said. A few days before the start of the Universiade in Kazan, the museum of the history of the World University Games was opened. It is located in the building of the Main International Center.
