Rugby 7. Results of tournament

The tournament rugby 7, where two sets of medals have been played, finished at the 27th World University Summer Games in Kazan on July 17.

The Russian rugby players defeated the French team in the final of the tournament and won the gold medal. In the first period, the Russians brought three attempts - Ramil Gaysin scored twice, one more goal is by Dennis Simplikevich. The Russian team left for the break, leading with the score of 17:5. In the second period, the Russians were able to hold the advantage. Ilya Babaev and Eduard Filatov made the attempts. The final score is 29:19, in favour of the Russian team. Bronze awards went to the British, who beat South Africa with a score of 31:14.

Earlier, the Russian women’s rugby team, who overcame the Italians in the finals, won gold medals at the rugby 7 tournament. After the first period, the Russians lead with a score of 15:5 - Ekaterina Kazakova, Marina Petrova and Rusiet Edidzhi made attempts. Sara Barattin’s try brought the Italians five points. In the second period, the Russian team was able to increase the advantage. Edidzhi, Petrova and Navrat Khamidova - each scored one attempt. Manuela Furlan stood out from the Italians. The final score, 30:10, was in favor of the Russians.

The Canadian team, which defeated the British team with a score of 36:0, rounded up the top three winners.
