4th WUC Sport Shooting: Italy and Russia dominate Double Trap

The 4th World University Sport Shooting Championship concluded today at the Sviyaga Shooting complex. Italy and Russia were two nations that outclassed the rest of the participating countries on Day 5, the final day of the Sport Shooting tournament. The hosts took team gold in the Double Trap final while Italy's leader Antonio BARILLA climbed onto the to spot of the podium in the individual event.

The final day, as well as the previous days of the championship, was exciting but not very intriguing. Only three teams took part in the Double Trap final and surprises are usually a rare thing here. But Double Trap is a really complicated shooting sport that not any country can develop as well as Italy and Russia do for example.

We should give credit to the Russian national team that was more persistent and accurate in all the three stages of the Double Trap qualification than any other team and earned a well-deserved victory. The same can be said about Antonio BARILLA who missed only three shots in the final and had pretty stable results that took him onto the top spot on the podium. His score is 191 and it's a breakthrough for the 4th World University Sport Shooting Championship.

Speaking about the development of Double Trap in the world, we should mention Kazakhstan that placed third and took bronze at the current championship. The medals won by student athletes of this country will surely inspire the country and boost development of Double Trap in Kazakhstan. And in one year, you may be quite assured of it, more experienced shooters will come to Kazan for the 2013 Summer Universiade's Shooting tournament.
