Russian rower Arkadova: Heat didn’t prevent me from winning the Universiade silver

Russian rower Olga Arkadova stated that hot weather didn’t interfere with lightweight singles at the Summer Universiade in Kazan in which she took a silver medal.

Arkadova became the second in women’s lightweight singles rowing competition at the Universiade. Russian came to the finish with the result 8 minutes 14.63 seconds and lost only to South African Kirsten Mc Cann (8:10.62). Bronze medal went to Eleonora Trivella (Italy) (8:19.13).

"You know, the whole race flew in a moment from start to finish. I can’t even single out any especially difficult moment. Heat didn’t disturb me at all to show such a result today while the absence of wind was the advantage. I did it, I am satisfied, there were no faults. Of course, I wanted to be the first but I knew that South African performed at Olympics and is a very serious rival,” as R-Sport cited.

“I don’t know if I will continue to take part in singles,” Arkadova added as she participated earlier only in lightweight doubles. “In general I enjoyed competing in this discipline. If my coach agrees I will take part in the singles again.”
