Rower Pozdnyakova experienes euphoria after her victory at Universiade

A member of the Russian national rowing team Yulia Pozdnyakova said that she's incredibly happy because she won the coxless four race at the Universiade in Kazan.

Pozdnyakova, Alexandra Fedorova, Oksana Strelkova and Anastasia Karabelschikova covered the distance in 6 minutes 59.92 seconds, in second place came the team from South Africa (7 min 07.44 sec), and bronze went to the Ukrainian team (7 min 09.66 sec).

“After this victory at the Universiade I am experiencing total euphoria. Today my first and foremost desire was not to disappoint all those people who were rooting for me: parents, friends, coaches, team supporters. In today's race, we did everything at 100%. That's because at first we were not sure about achieving victory, before the Universiade, as we did not yet know the strengths of our opponents,” R-Sport quoted Pozdnyakova.

This was the first gold at the Universiade for the Russian team in rowing. Earlier Russian teams had earned one silver and two bronze medals.
