Ivanov and Sozonov lost to Koreans Ko Sunghyun and Lee Yongdae with a score of 1-2 in the game for the gold of the Summer Universiade 2013 in Kazan. "Today we competed for gold," Sozonov told the reporters. "We managed a lot in the first set. What’s more, I didn’t expect such a game from myself. Unfortunately, we became wicker in the second and the third sets, we could not adjust to the tactics of the Koreans. Nevertheless, there was a chance. The fact that we managed to concede in three games, it mattered something. As they say in such cases, one wicket defeat did not smell," he said.

According to Sozonov, the Russian duo failed to impose their game on the opponent. "They are the first racket of the world, they have imposed the game comfortable for them, and we were not able to oppose them anything," said the athlete.
