Swimming. Preview of competition day

The fifth day of swimming competition at the 27th Summer Universiade 2013 in Kazan starts on July 14.

4 finals will be held: 100 and 800 meters freestyle men, 200 m breaststroke and 100m women butterfly.

708 athletes from 73 countries filled applications for participation in swimming. 42 sets of medals will be played only in swimming.

Remember that on July 13 swimmers competed seven sets of medals in the 2013 Summer Universiade programs 200m breaststroke, 200m butterfly and 50m backstroke men, 1,500 m freestyle, 200 m complex, 100 m backstroke and the 4x200 meters relay women.

In the men's swim in the 200m breaststroke, the first place was won by Russian Vyacheslav Sinkevich, silver came to Yukihiro Takahashi of Japan, and Lucius Pizzinni from Italy took the bronze.

Benjamin Treffers of Australia took the first place in the men's swim in the 50m backstroke, the second was the Russian sportsman Vladimir Morozov, and the third is Pizzamiglio Stefano from Italy.

In another men's swim in the 200 m butterfly Biczo Bence from Hungary took pride of the first place, the second went to Kent Hirai from Japan, and the third one - the Stefanos Dimitriadis of Greece.

In the swim at 1,500 m freestyle women's the first and the second places were taken by Stephanie Peacock and Ashley Steenvoorden from the United States, respectively, while the third place went to Rita Martin Caramignoli from Italy.

In the women's swim in the 100m backstroke Russian Anastasia Zueva became the first . U.S. spokeswoman Megan Romano won the second place and the third place went to Madison Wilson of Australia.

Russian Victoria Andreeva won the gold medal in the 200 m swim in the complex. The second and the third were two athletes from the United States Sarah Henry and Melanie Margalis.

The final match of the fourth day of competition in swimming was the women's relay 4x200 m freestyle relay, where American team took the first place, the Russian team won the silver, and the bronze went to Canada.

Swimming competition at the 27th Summer Universiade 2013 in Kazan are held from 10 to 17 July at the Aquatics Palace, as well as at the Rowing Center.
