Yest again the capital of Tatarstan is getting ready to host a major judo competition. After successfully staging the 2011 Russian Judo Championships and 27th Summer Universiade 2013, Kazan is preparing to welcome the Russian Judo U18 Championships. The tournament will take place at the Ak Bars Wrestling Palace between February 12 and 15 and be dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Over 1,000 judokas and officials from 70 regions of the Russian Federation will come to Kazan for the event.

The goal of the contest is to create a visual look of the GTO complex which reflects cultural values of a healthy lifestyle and benefits of physical activity for Russian people. The visual look must be associated with such notions as 'physical fitness', 'strength', 'healthy lifestyle', 'drive for victory', 'development and progress', 'homeland', and 'success'. The prize fund amounts to 1 million rubles. In case several winners are selected, the prize money will be distributed equally amongst them.

Its main goal was to inspect the Central Stadium, the host venue for the athletic competition. "The most important thing for us at this stage is to check everything about the sports venue, its equipment, its preparation and further Class One Certification as required by the level of the competition since the junior championships are a major event in the IAAF calendar of events. We've already conducted a preliminary analysis and we don't see any obstacles; we plan to make maximum use of the Universiade infrastructure," said Secretary General of the All-Russian Athletics Federation Mikhail Butov.
