FISU

The history of FISU

The International University Sports Federation was officially formed in 1949. Its origin goes back to the first World Students Games, held in May 1923 in Paris. The organizer of the Games was French educator and scholar Jean Petitjean, companion of Pierre de Coubertin.

In 1924 at the International Sport Congress of the Universities in Warsaw it was decided to set up the International Confederation of Students (ICS). Eight games were carried out during the operation of the ICS until 1939.Read more
