Universiade Museum

The Universiade Museum is a unique project of the FISU IEC, which was launched as an educational site dedicated to sport. Here, one can learn the history of university sports in Russia and the history of the Kazan 2013 Organising Committee, find out about the top Russian athletes, discuss sport values, and visit master classes.

Opening date: 29 June 2013

Location: Main International Centre, Universiade Village

Museum’s mission: to promote the ideas of university sports, to facilitate sustainable development of the nation by advocating sport values and disseminating the cultural traditions of various countries.

Key concept: to preserve and maintain the university sports movement through the successes of the past and the achievements of the future, which will be presented at the 27th Summer Universiade 2013 in Kazan, and to disseminate the Universiade legacy.

At the Universiade Museum, you will find out:

How Kazan was getting ready to stage the 2013 Summer Universiade from various historical documents, as well as attributes of major projects implemented during the preparations for the Games.

Everything about the history of Universiades since 1959: how many medals have been won by the Soviet and Russian athletes, in which Universiades Russian national teams came to the top, which Universiades were visited by the greatest number of participants, and what mascot is the most beautiful.

How the medal ceremonies were held, and will see the unique photos of triumphant victories won by athletes from different countries.

See and take a photo of a real torch of the Summer Universiade in Kazan to maintain the sports spirit, peace, unity and friendship.

Watch documentaries about the history of the Universiade, films and videos, which were created during Kazan’s preparations for the Games 2013, in a 12-seat cinema.

Exchange souvenirs at the unique stand at the museum.



The museum is a place to visit for the guests of Kazan. It is also included in the itinerary of travel companies.
